For Family and Kindness

Watercolour on paper, 200 x 230mm, 2016

I wanted to create a painting for you that would be a celebration of feelings of a new beginning. A new home marks a time of change and progression in a fresh direction; it can even be a recalculation of your life’s purpose and that of the family you bring with you. The six individual motifs on the outside of this composition represent each person in your family and between each person is the symbol of “sharing” and “connection” that unites you as a family.

I have called this painting “For family and kindness” because when you, my friend, look at this painting I would like you to remember what you taught your sons; that the two most important things in life are one’s family and in being kind. I expect that this is what your parents taught you and what ties your family and this painting together.
