For Janice – consoling and remembering

I created this painting as a process for sending healing energy to Janice.

But what do I really mean when I say that the work sends healing energy? For someone like Janice who is in her last days of life, I realise that she is not going to recover or become healthy again. I recognise that her body and spirit are separating from each other; her body being drawn back to the earth from which it was formed; and her spirit being released and once again infused with, for want of a better word, the collective consciousness . In this context then, the healing is about her body slowly dying  and entering another phase in the cycle of life. Her spirit detaching itself and returning (?) to a familiar existence while those around her are watching, remembering and consoling each other.
