For Hope 2

Watercolour, 420x420mm

Our lives have meaning and purpose because of our connection with others. Many of us feel disconnected and awkward believing that there is something about ourselves that is not worthy of connection. We tell ourselves that this would be different if only we were smarter or prettier or thinner; ‘if only I was perfect’. The reality is that perfect is a fixed mental construct that is uncompromising and unattainable. The hope expressed in this painting is that we can develop the courage to free ourselves of that mindset and give ourselves permission to be imperfect, to be vulnerable and susceptible and worthy of love and connection with others.
