On Positive Relationships

Watercolour, 420x420mm

As I reflect on the theme of “positive relationships” I have an image in my mind of a timeless cycle of night and day: one following the other; one preceding the other; equally balanced and together they are perfect. Inside that is a ring of figures which symbolise people connecting to each other. As individuals in a circle they represent the interdependence of all beings; all equal and each unique. Below them are the groups, the communities of people who work together with a sense of common purpose. The visual representation in the centre of this image is that of “duality and surrender” which surely underpins positive relationships. We begin with the self and surrender to altruistic expressions and practices. There are symbols on the outside which represent “our time” and covey the need for selflessness and agreement in those moments together. At its essence, this painting conveys the importance of acceptance and consideration for others and highlights the message of unselfish love as the foundation for positive relationships.
