The persisting memory: my muse
Acrylic on paper, 450x760mm
Many times I have been inspired by a muse who is with me every day. She is always lingering in my thoughts and I love our time together. I walk and she is with me; I lay my head on the pillow and await her in my dreams. I can speak to her without fear in a rousing conversation; I can visualise her at anytime and she never changes. I close my eyes and listen to those familiar words and funny expressions which I have heard a thousand times. It is not important that I can’t always see her, I catch a glimpse of her every day. I don’t care that I am unable to always hear her, I speak to her all the time. She is always with me and I would miss her if she was no longer around.
Many times I have heard myself say to others that we can be trapped in a constructed version of reality which is reinforced by our mind’s inner commentary. But, while some constructed versions of reality can hold us captive others can set us free.
